Another senseless murder in the District of Columbia brings the homicide total to 200. There have not been this many homicides in the District since the lawlessness of the 90s and early 2000’s.
DC Republican Committee Chairman Patrick Mara said, “In 2020, DC politicians let themselves be influenced by far left-wing activists seeking chaos. Our elected officials pay more attention to social media than they do common sense. Now we have a reduced police force and a murder rate not seen in decades. Lives are being lost and families destroyed, but still the DC Council and Mayor Bowser are afraid to act. They fear outcry from activists and Twitter, but ignore grieving families and entire communities under siege from violent criminals.”
He continued, “One mother lost all three of her sons. Did one DC elected official seek to comfort her? No. But when activists complain about how police handle an armed suspect who is resisting arrest, Council members are the first to decry police.”
Mara continued, “Until our elected leaders take decisive action, the killing will continue. Much of this blood is on their hands. Do not let them forget or deny their responsibility.”
The DC Republican Committee is composed of registered Republicans living throughout the District of Columbia in all eight wards who are nominated and elected to serve as members.
