With the election of DC GOP Chairman Cunningham, the Advisory Council was reinstated after a two year period of dormancy. The Advisory Council serves as the chief fundraising mechanism for the party for the purposes of candidate recruitment and support, Republican outreach and engagement, and for general operating expenses.
The Advisory Council has been the financial backbone of the DC Republican Party. Composed of some of the most knowledgeable and active members of our Party, its members offer advice, participate in issue task forces, and attend briefings and receptions. In the past, the Advisory Council was honored to have guest speakers such as Senator John Thune, Former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Andrew Card, Reince Priebus, Representative Kevin McCarthy, former Congressman Tom Davis, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce, and political pundit David Frum.
The Advisory Council membership typically includes several former Ambassadors, elected officials, senior lobbyists and other prominent members of the community. Former Senator Bob Dole was a member at one point.
The Advisory Council meets a minimum of four times a year at receptions to hear from a prominent Republican.
