WASHINGTON – The DC Republican Party elected José Cunningham as its Chairman at a vote held yesterday evening at the Capitol Hill Club. Chairman Cunningham is the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer at Crowell & Moring LLP, an international law firm representing clients in high-stakes litigation and arbitration, regulatory, and transactional matters. He will serve a two year term and lead the DC Republican delegation to the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.

Cunningham noted in a statement, “The DC Republican Party must engage in all eight wards. The party will raise the necessary funds; recruit and train more candidates; and focus our efforts to give Republicans a competitive advantage in a city that is overwhelmingly registered Democrat. We will once again hold our elected representatives accountable and continue to be a voice against corruption.” He continued, “DC Republicans will champion small businesses and entrepreneurship; advocate for safer streets; support parental choice in education and oppose taxes, fees and regulations that stifle growth in the District of Columbia.”

The DC Republican Party also elected a number of other officers to its executive committee which includes three vice chairs and a treasurer. The newly elected officers are: Senior Vice Chairman, Ralph Chittams, Jr. (Ward 7); Vice Chairman of Political Affairs, Gary Teal (Ward 6); Vice Chairwoman of Membership, Jessie Jane Duff, USMC, Retired (Ward 2); and Treasurer, Roderick Johnson (Ward 5).
