FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Vivek Ramaswamy Second Presidential Candidate to Make DC Republican Presidential Primary Ballot
Washington, DC – (October 24, 2023) On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Vivek Ramaswamy became the second Republican candidate for President of the United States to qualify for the ballot at the March 1-3, 2024, District of Columbia Republican state party primary. The DC Republican Party issued the following statement on Ramaswamy’s entry into the race:
DC Republican Party Chairman Patrick Mara noted, “The District of Columbia’s primary has added another dynamic candidate to the ballot. We are excited to announce Vivek Ramaswamy as the second candidate to declare in the District. DC Republican voters have never before been more relevant in choosing a nominee for President than this election. Congratulations to Vivek Ramaswamy and his campaign for being the second to make the ballot in DC. It will be a highly consequential Primary as we are holding it the weekend after the early states, and immediately before Super Tuesday.”
The District of Columbia Republican Party Presidential Primary will be held on Friday, March 1, Saturday, March 2, 2024, and Sunday, March 3, 2024, at a location and times yet to be announced in Washington, DC. During the pre-Super Tuesday DC Primary, Presidential candidates will compete for 19 proportionately allocated Delegates and 16 Alternate Delegates to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Delegates from across the country will convene to select the Republican nominee for President of the United States. National Republican Party rules necessitated that the DC GOP move the primary from the District-scheduled primary on June 4th to the earlier dates in March. With the filing deadline set at December 1, and with President Trump first on the ballot, it is anticipated up to an additional ten Republicans could make the Presidential Primary ballot in DC.
